Week 7: Part A

The importance of Instagram and social media in driving business growth has expanded exponentially and will only continue to do so. As the saying goes, it’s here to stay. Creating an account for Iomi was both challenging and somewhat nostalgic, because we lost our original account—along with all our posts and followers—and despite multiple attempts, we couldn’t recover it. Now, this new beginning fills my sister and me with excitement as we work to relaunch our business. Instagram is, and will always be, one of our favorite platforms.

Having a presence on social media is crucial for businesses because it enhances brand visibility, builds customer relationships, and drives growth. Platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram each offer unique advantages and challenges. YouTube’s strength lies in its ability to showcase products or services through engaging video content, though it can be time-intensive to produce professional-quality videos. Facebook remains a powerful platform for building communities and reaching a broad demographic, but businesses may face increased competition and the need to invest in paid advertising to stand out. Instagram excels at visual storytelling and fosters direct interaction with customers, although it often requires consistent, aesthetically appealing posts to maintain engagement. Despite these challenges, the versatility and reach of these platforms make them essential tools for any business looking to thrive in today’s digital landscape.
